We're sorry, this alert is no longer available.

The short explanation of this alert was:

" ... my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labor in vain" (Isaiah 65:22-23).

Work must "work" for families, and increasing the minimum wage can help. The House has done its part by passing a bill to increase the minimum wage, and now the issue has moved to the Senate, where a tougher battle is underway. The faith community must make clear to our officials that a clean bill (i.e. a bill that solely raises the minimum wage), like the one passed in the House, is needed. This minimum wage increase for our low-income workers is a moral issue, and it should not be derailed by partisan politics, bad amendments, or delaying tactics.

Join with Sojourners/Call to Renewal in calling for a clean minimum wage increase, as we continue to raise our voices on behalf of "the least of these" and proclaim that a job should keep you out of poverty, not keep you in it. Send an email urging your Senators to pass a clean minimum wage increase.
