We're sorry, this alert is no longer available.

The short explanation of this alert was:

Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, "But we knew nothing about this," does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay each person according to what he has done? (Proverbs 24:11-12)

Four years of genocidal violence in Darfur have left an estimated 400,000 dead, 2.5 million innocent civilians displaced, and 4 million men, women, and children completely reliant on international aid for survival. Refugees now face starvation, disease, and rape, while those who remain in their villages risk displacement, torture, and murder.

Time is running out for the people of Darfur. We must act quickly and decisively to end this genocide before thousands more people are needlessly killed. Please send a message to President Bush -- tell him our shared Christian faith compels him to do everything in his power to bring an end to the genocide in Darfur:

  1. Call the White House comment line: (202) 456-1111
  2. Give your message to the operator. For example:
  3. "Hello, my name is _____ and I'm a Christian calling from [your church] in [your town]. I'm calling to tell President Bush that I stand behind him in leading the international community to do whatever it takes to get a U.N. peacekeeping mission on the ground in Darfur. This will require greater economic, diplomatic, and political pressure. President Bush, please don't let the genocide of God's children go on another day!"

  4. Let us know you called by filling out the form to the right.
  5. Send an e-mail to five of your friends and family, urging them to join you in sending a message to the White House.
