The short explanation of this alert was:
A climate and energy bill has already passed the House of Representatives, and Senators Kerry and Lieberman recently introduced the American Power Act. However, while it is a good step forward, the Senate bill also contains loopholes and giveaways to polluters, to "incentivize" their support.
In light of the recent tragedies in West Virginia and the Gulf of Mexico, it is clear that another path is needed.
What we need is a real climate bill, one that curbs pollutants, modernizes our energy systems, and continues investment in cleaner energy sources--one that properly stewards God's creation and cares for all of God's creatures.
Ask the Senate to support a climate and energy bill that protects people and the planet, not polluters.
